How we report, verify, and publish — every single story, every single day.

At NEWSAxis, our editorial policy is the backbone of everything we publish. It defines how we gather information, how we verify facts, how we treat the people in our stories, and how we remain accountable to our readers at all times.

This policy applies to every article, opinion piece, and piece of content published on newsaxis.uk — without exception.

1. Our Editorial Independence

NEWSAxis operates as a fully independent news platform. We are not owned by, funded by, or editorially influenced by any political party, government body, corporation, or special interest group.

  • Our editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team
  • Advertisers have no influence over what we publish or how we report it
  • No story is published, suppressed, or altered in exchange for commercial relationships
  • Sponsored or paid content is always clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content

Our journalism answers to one group only — our readers.

2. Accuracy & Verification

We do not publish what we cannot verify. Before any story goes live on NEWSAxis, our editorial team applies the following standards:

  1. Multiple Sources — We seek at least two independent sources to confirm significant claims before publication
  2. Primary Sources First — We prioritise official documents, statements, and data over secondary reporting
  3. Fact-Checking — All statistics, dates, names, and quotes are checked before publication
  4. Source Credibility — We assess the reliability and potential bias of every source we use
  5. No Assumptions — If something cannot be confirmed, we say so clearly in the article

When information is uncertain, developing, or unverified, we label it explicitly — using terms such as “alleged”, “unconfirmed”, or “according to sources” — so readers always know where a story stands.

3. Fairness & Impartiality

NEWSAxis is committed to fair and balanced reporting across all subjects, including politics, business, religion, and culture. Our approach to impartiality includes:

  • Right of Reply — Any individual, organisation, or institution that is the subject of criticism in our reporting is given the opportunity to respond before publication where practicable
  • Balance — On contested issues, we present multiple credible perspectives rather than promoting a single viewpoint
  • No Agenda — We do not campaign for or against any political party, ideology, or cause in our news reporting
  • Proportionality — We report stories in proportion to their significance, not their sensational value

Our Opinion & Analysis section is clearly labelled and distinguished from straight news reporting. Views expressed in opinion pieces are those of the individual authors and do not represent the editorial position of NEWSAxis.

4. Source Handling & Protection

We take the protection of our sources seriously. Our commitments to sources include:

  • Confidential sources are never identified without their explicit consent
  • We do not pressure sources into speaking on the record
  • Anonymous sources are used only when the information is in the genuine public interest and cannot be obtained through other means
  • When using anonymous sources, we always explain to readers why anonymity has been granted
  • We do not pay sources for information

5. Conflicts of Interest

We hold our team to a strict conflicts of interest policy to protect the integrity of our journalism.

  • Journalists and editors do not write about organisations, companies, or individuals with whom they have a personal or financial relationship
  • Team members must declare any potential conflict to the Editor-in-Chief before covering a story
  • NEWSAxis does not accept gifts, free travel, or hospitality that could compromise editorial judgement
  • Any freebies accepted for review purposes (books, products, events) are clearly disclosed in the relevant article

6. Privacy & Public Interest

NEWSAxis respects the privacy of individuals while upholding the public’s right to know. We apply the following principles when handling personal information:

  • We only intrude on personal privacy when there is a clear and demonstrable public interest
  • Public figures accept greater scrutiny of their public roles — but retain a right to privacy in their personal lives
  • We do not publish the names, images, or identifying information of minors without appropriate consent
  • We handle information about victims of crime, particularly sexual offences, with the utmost sensitivity and in line with UK law
  • We comply fully with UK GDPR and all relevant data protection legislation

7. Harm & Sensitivity

We are conscious of the impact our reporting can have on individuals and communities. Our approach to sensitive subjects includes:

  • Suicide & Self-Harm — We follow the Samaritans’ media guidelines on reporting suicide and self-harm
  • Mental Health — We report on mental health responsibly and avoid stigmatising language
  • Race & Religion — We report on race, ethnicity, and religion fairly and without stereotype
  • Trauma & Tragedy — We approach victims of tragedy with sensitivity and do not sensationalise suffering
  • Graphic Content — Graphic images or descriptions are only used when editorially justified and are always accompanied by an appropriate warning

8. Headlines & Social Media

We hold our headlines and social media posts to the same editorial standards as our articles.

  • Headlines must accurately reflect the content of the article — we do not use misleading or clickbait headlines
  • Social media posts are factual, fair, and consistent with the content they promote
  • We do not use social media to express political opinions or editorially biased commentary on behalf of NEWSAxis

9. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

NEWSAxis recognises the growing role of AI tools in modern journalism. Our policy on AI usage is as follows:

  • AI tools may be used to assist with research, summarisation, and drafting — but all published content is reviewed, verified, and approved by a human editor
  • AI-generated content is never published without editorial oversight
  • We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, or facts
  • Where AI has played a significant role in producing an article, this will be disclosed to readers

10. Corrections & Accountability

When we make mistakes — and sometimes we will — we correct them quickly, clearly, and without excuse.

  • Corrections are published on the original article with a visible Editor’s Note
  • Significant corrections are logged on our Corrections & Clarifications page
  • We never silently edit a published article without acknowledgement
  • Retractions are issued when a story is found to be fundamentally flawed
